The Annual Christmas Charity Drive is a very special holiday time where we
get a chance to realize the Christmas wishes of underprivileged families on
a very personal level. These community shelters assist desperate single
mothers and their children in their efforts to regain a normal family life
and living environment. These shelters provide basic lodging and some
nourishment for the families.
This year's Annual Christmas Charity Drive will be held the Saturday, December
13th, 2008. The Saint Coleman's Men's Club Christmas Charity Drive benefits
the residents of the Catholic Charities homeless family shelters of Angelica
House and Providence Place, and other local charities.
We are actively raising funds through a raffle, held at the spaghetti
dinners and also in front of Church every Sunday. We're raffling off a 52"
Sony 1080p LCD HDTV worth over $2,500! Tickets are only $10.00 each, and all proceeds from the raffle will be used for this
year's event. We encourage you to support this worthy cause!
It is our strong belief that Christmas dreams still need to be dreamed, and
Christmas wishes of these under-privileged families need to be granted. Much
is needed to aid in the everyday requirements of the most basic life, such
as food, clothing, medicines, and household goods. We contact these local shelters and distribute our "Kris Kringle" forms for
the participants to fill out, providing information about their child's
educational needs, and Christmas desires.
Upon receiving forms distributed to the shelters, our “team of elves” go out
and shop for the specific items (within reason) on the children’s “Santa
List”. We then provide a Christmas banquet and party on that Saturday, where
the families come to the school, enjoy the meal we prepare, Santa Claus
arrives via helicopter to meet and greet the children, and distribute the
gifts personally to the children. It’s a very special, giving, wonderful
time and definitely something you’ll appreciate in helping in and/or just
attending.
This event requires substantial financial support, and we welcome any and
all corporate or personal donations to help assist us in continuing this
very special Christmas tradition. For more information or to make a donation
